Achnamara (GB) made contact with the rail leaving the chute.
Having been checked by the Veterinary Surgeon at the start, the gelding was deemed fit to race.
After an initial false start, the start was effected successfully on the second attempt.
However, having reviewed recordings of the false start, the Starters were satisfied that no riders should be reported for contravening the starting procedures.
Having reviewed the start the Stewards were satisfied that Sefton Warrior (GB) had refused to race and was deemed to be a runner.
An enquiry was held to consider the placings in this race, after interference on the run to the line, involving the winner, Clean Getaway (IRE), ridden by Joe Williamson and Achnamara (GB), placed second, ridden by Bruce Lynn.
Having heard the evidence, the Stewards considered that the interference had not improved Clean Getaway (IRE)’s placing as Achnamara (GB) was only taken marginally off its intended line and had lost no momentum, to be beaten a well-held neck at the line.
Williamson was cautioned for careless riding as he allowed his mount to drift left-handed without sufficient correction, carrying Achnamara (GB) slightly off its intended line.
