An enquiry was held into the running and riding of Intense Style (IRE), ridden by Danny Brock and trained by Denis Quinn which started slowly and raced in rear throughout, finishing ninth beaten 12 ? lengths.
The rider was interviewed and shown recordings of the race; the Veterinary Officer reported that a post-race examination of Intense Style (IRE) during routine testing failed to reveal any abnormalities.
The rider explained that the gelding has a history of starting slowly so his instructions were to get him out of the stalls and get him competitive.
He stated that Intense Style (IRE) again sat back as the gates opened and was slowly away, a fact which he reported at scales.
He added that the gelding also hung left- handed so he allowed him to drop in against the rail in order to take the shortest route and rode him out to the line which he felt allowed his mount obtain the best possible placing.
Brock's explanation was noted.
Following the race Toby Eley reported that London Protocol (FR), placed eighth, was slowly away.
Danny Brock reported that Intense Style (IRE), unplaced, was slowly away and hung left-handed.
