The Raceday Stewards enquired into an incident approximately 100 yards after the start involving Pretreville (FR), ridden by G.M. Ryan, and Bold Discovery (USA), ridden by S. Foley where it appeared Bold Discovery had to check. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. S. Foley stated that he wanted to get a good position early, Pretreville was clear of him but his own horse lengthened his stride and reached before he steadied. G.M. Ryan concurred with S. Foley's evidence and stated that he took a precautionary look across and his horse launched at that stage. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Raceday Stewards were of the opinion that any interference which occurred was accidental and they took no further action
W.J. Lee, rider of Narmar, trained by Henry de Bromhead, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount reared up after the stalls opened
The Raceday Stewards requested a report from Mrs John Harrington, trainer, as to the apparent improvement in form of Bold Discovery (USA), placed first, as compared with its most recent run. The trainer's representative stated that Bold Discovery (USA) scoped badly subsequent to its penultimate start and perhaps took longer to recover from its treatment which may have affected its last start. Having considered the report the Raceday Stewards noted its contents.
