1st - €8,292.00, 2nd - €2,040.00, 3rd - €960.00, 4th - €600.00 16 Ran Mutqan carried 2lbs overweight here and did well to win a competitive maiden. The winner was third in a good maiden at The Curragh last month, in heavy ground, and had the overall form to win.
Winning rider Chris Geoghegan reported "Mutqan is a nice horse and the boss (Kevin Prendergast) has always liked him. He prefers good ground."
Peacock's Pride was himself placed in a Curragh maiden on his last start and ran well in second. He should have little difficulty winning a maiden.
Liberty Bridge ran very well on his debut. The son of Mr Greeley was only seventh entering the straight and fifth a furlong out before staying on strongly for a never nearer third. He will hold solid claims in a similar race next time out and should stay further.
Giant Among Men was another to stay on well although the real eye-catcher was John Oxx's Timari. Timari, a son of top class racemare Timarida, was reported by Oxx to be "quite raw and inexperienced" prior to racing and never looked like winning today but did stay on well under an educational ride. He should win races.
Academy Blues disappointed while More Time Tim showed promise and can figure in handicaps.
Non-Runners were the two reserves.
