As the pace of the race slowed rounding the bend, Glasvegas (IRE), unplaced, which was running keenly, shifted right-handed off the heels of the winner, Headshot (GB), causing the rider of Grandstand (IRE), placed sixth, to have to take a significant check.
At the same point in the race, Lilandra (FR), unplaced, in improving its position on the inside of Glasvegas (IRE), unplaced, clipped the heels of Kratos (GB), placed second, causing it to stumble badly and nearly unseat the rider.
After viewing a recording of both incidents, it was found that neither involved a riding offence, nor improved the placing of any horse.
The winner, Headshot (GB), appeared to show improved form compared with its previous run at Newcastle on 18 March 2022, where the gelding finished eighth of 11, beaten by 8 ½ lengths.
Tony Carroll's explanation that Headshot (GB) had appreciated the drop back to 1 mile, having raced over 1 mile 2 furlongs at Newcastle was noted; Headshot (GB) was routine tested.
Following the race, Charles Bishop reported that Uncle Dick (GB), placed fifth, was denied a clear run, George Rooke reported that Lilandra (FR), unplaced, was denied a clear run, and Tom Queally reported that Thunder Lily (IRE), unplaced, was denied a clear run.
The Veterinary Officer reported that Kratos (GB), placed second, had lost its left-hind shoe.
