That's a second winner on the track for John (son and jockey). He has a degree in Business from Trinity, but he decided to stay with horses rather than going getting a proper job! John is at home with me and Ross (son who finished 10th on the trainer's Darling Valentine) is with Henry de Bromhead. It's nice to get a winner. We were just hoping that she might be placed today. We might run her again and see how she goes. J A Berry, trainer
K.C. Sexton, rider of Crabtrees Rebel trained by James Andrew Fahey, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount lost its action when going down the hill
Shane Fenelon, rider of Who's Houdini trained by John Joseph Hanlon, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount hung badly
The Stewards enquired into the running and riding of Who's Houdini, ridden by Shane Fenelon, and trained by John Joseph Hanlon. Evidence was heard from the rider and Christopher McGill, Authorized representative for the trainer concerned. Shane Fenelon, stated that his instructions were to take his time and get his mount settled as he had been quiet keen on its previous runs. Once settled he was to try and ride a race thereafter getting into it late on
He said the race went ok however his mount hung badly left, took a blow at the top of the hill and he just stayed on past beaten horses in the straight. Christopher McGill confirmed the instructions given adding that in his opinion Who's Houdini should have been a bit closer at the top of the hill on the final circuit. The Stewards also received a report from the Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board Veterinary Officer who stated that Who's Houdini was sore post race. Samples were taken for further analysis. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards noted the content of the report.
