Permission was given for Habub (USA) to wear a red hood to the start and go early to post, Eshaasy (GB) to go early to post and Keyser Soze (IRE) to wear a red hood to the start; Cardsharp (GB) wore earplugs which were removed at the start.
The Starter reported that Keyser Soze (IRE) was the subject of a third criteria failure.
Richard Spencer was informed that the gelding could not run until the day after passing a stalls test.
An enquiry was held into the start of this race to determine whether No Nonsense (GB), ridden by Joey Haynes, should be deemed to be a runner.
The rider and the Starter were interviewed and shown recordings of the start.
Having heard their evidence, the Stewards accepted that the colt had become restless in the stalls which necessitated Haynes removing his left foot from the stirrup iron in order to lift his mount’s head, resulting in the rider distributing his weight onto the left side of the starting stalls running board and consequently not being fully mounted when the start was effected.
This caused No Nonsense (GB) to leave the starting stalls riderless and as such was deemed to be a non-runner.
An enquiry was held to consider interference approximately 2 furlongs out involving Keyser Soze (IRE), unplaced, ridden by Angus Villiers; Eshaasy (GB), placed fifth, ridden by George Rooke and Ebury (GB), unplaced, ridden by Oisin Murphy.
Villiers and Rooke were both suspended for 2 days for careless riding as Villiers had manoeuvred left-handed at the same time as Rooke had manoeuvred right-handed when their mounts were insufficiently clear of Ebury (GB), resulting in Murphy having to take a check.
Following the race, Tom Marquand reported that Shelir (IRE), unplaced, was denied a clear run.
The Veterinary Officer reported that Blackheath (GB), unplaced, lost both its left and right-fore shoes.
