An enquiry was held into the possible faulty action of the starting stalls in this race.
The Starters and the Clerk of the Course were interviewed and shown recordings of the incident.
The Starter explained that the front gate of stall 3, into which Royal Birth (GB) had already been loaded, appeared to open independently and therefore he had been happy for Royal Birth (GB) to be re-loaded.
He further added that having seen a recording of the incident, it appeared that Royal Birth (GB) had raised his head and may have made slight contact with the gate which could have contributed to it opening.
However, he was satisfied that it was not due to the unruly behaviour of the gelding and Royal Birth (GB) had not broken out.
The Clerk of the Course added that the starting stalls had been serviced towards the end of January and that they would be tested prior to Race 3.
Their explanation was noted.
