The Stewards enquired into an incident in the final furlong involving Six Of Hearts (GB), ridden by T.P. Madden, Kings Ryker, ridden by S. Foley, and Have A Nice Day (GB), ridden by L.F. Roche, where it appeared Have A Nice Day (GB) ran short of room and was forced to check. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. Mr N.P Madden, trainer, accompanied apprentice T.P. Madden at this enquiry. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were of the opinion that S. Foley was in breach of Rule 214 by riding carelessly and having taken his record into account suspended him for two race days.
An extended handicap for three yrs old and upwards (95 = 9st 12lb) Weights - Top weight in the original handicap shall not; be less than 9st 12lb Penalties - -(after calculation of the handicap) A winner shall carry 5lb extra for each race won Any horse rated above 95 shall initially be treated as having that rating and the highest weight allotted shall be 9st 12lb. Subsequently, the excess over 95 in any rating shall be added to the weight allotted to that horse. (For the purpose of this note, any three year old rated above 95 shall have the applicable weight for age allowance then prevailing deducted from the horse's rating prior to the original calculation of the handicap)
