Approaching 2 furlongs out, the winner Bajan Blue (GB) hung left-handed despite the rider's best efforts to correct the filly, hampering a weakening Mimasusa (IRE), unplaced.
However, after viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved and that it had not improved the placing of Bajan Blue (GB).
An enquiry was held to consider the placings in this race after interference in the home straight involving the winner Bajan Blue (GB), ridden by Raul Da Silva, and Trojan Storm (GB), placed second, ridden by Rossa Ryan, which was beaten by a short head margin.
After hearing evidence from both riders and viewing recordings of the incident from multiple angles, it was established that approximately 1¼ furlongs out Bajan Blue (GB) had shifted left-handed away from the whip bumping Trojan Storm (GB) which became unbalanced and was moved off its intended line.
Thereafter, it was considered that Trojan Storm (GB) had hung left-handed away from Bajan Blue (GB) independently and any contact between the runners who raced in very close proximity to each other throughout the final furlong was negligible and had not been initiated by Bajan Blue (GB).
Taking into account where the incident occurred, balanced against the material extent of the interference and Trojan Storm (GB)'s failure to reduce the margin throughout the final furlong, the Stewards were unable to be satisfied that had the incident not occurred Trojan Storm (GB) would have finished ahead of Bajan Blue (GB) and therefore ordered the placings to remain unaltered.
Da Silva was suspended for 2 days for careless riding as he had taken insufficient steps to prevent his mount shifting left-handed, thereby causing interference to Trojan Storm (GB).
Following the race, Callum Hutchinson reported that Mimasusa (IRE), unplaced, ran green.
Rossa Ryan reported that Trojan Storm (GB), placed second, suffered interference in the home straight.
