An enquiry was held to consider interference approximately 1½ furlongs out involving Rockesbury (GB), unplaced, ridden by Christian Howarth and Eastern Star (IRE), unplaced, ridden by Mollie Phillips.
As 7lb claimers, both Howarth and Phillips were offered the opportunity to be accompanied in the enquiry but declined.
Phillips was cautioned for careless riding as she had allowed her mount to drift right-handed, causing Howarth to temporarily ease Rockesbury (GB) for a few strides.
Approaching the final ½ furlong, the winner, Mostallim (GB), lugged left-handed before being quickly corrected by its rider, making contact with London (FR), placed fourth, but after viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved and that it had not improved the placing of Mostallim (GB).
The winner, Mostallim (GB), appeared to show improved form, compared with its previous run at Newcastle on 28 January 2021 where the gelding finished third of ten runners, beaten by 9¾ lengths.
Mick Appleby explained that the gelding had appreciated a drop back in trip to 7 furlongs on this occasion.
His explanation was noted and Mostallim (GB) was routine tested.
Following the race, Oisin McSweeney reported that Firsteen (GB), placed sixth, was slowly away; Mollie Phillips reported that Eastern Star (IRE), unplaced, ran too freely in the early stages and Luke Catton reported that Shackabooah (GB), placed second, was denied a clear run.
The Veterinary Officer reported that London (FR), placed fourth, finished lame on its left-fore.
