The Raceday Stewards interviewed R.P. Cleary, rider of Golden Spangle, concerning his use of the whip in the closing stages of this race. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned who accepted he was in breach of the whip Regulation. Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence the Raceday Stewards were satisfied that R.P. Cleary was in breach of Regulation 10.3(g)(frequency) and having considered his record they suspended him for 2 racedays
The Raceday Stewards enquired into an incident early in the home straight involving Hello Power, ridden by D.N
Curran, Khattaat, ridden by L.T. McAteer, Snow Lion, ridden by D.P. McDonogh, Stepdance, ridden by J. Kearney and Golden Spangle, ridden by R.P. Cleary where it appeared Snow Lion ran short of room and had to check
Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. D.N. Curran felt he did not contribute to any interference. L.T
McAteer stated his horse lugged left momentarily but felt he corrected him immediately. D.P. McDonogh stated he had to check as he was tight on heels after getting pressure from both sides. J. Kearney stated he felt slight pressure from his outside. R.P. Cleary stated his mount rolled away from the horses on his inner. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Raceday Stewards did not apportion blame to any rider and they took no further action. Elaine O'Farrell accompanied J. Kearney at this enquiry
