The Raceday Stewards enquired into an incident on the turn into the straight on the final circuit involving Bowmore, ridden by Rachael Blackmore, Walhaan, ridden by E. Walsh, Katou, ridden by D.E. Mullins, and Williamstowndancer, ridden by P. Townend where it appeared that Katou was tight for room when Bowmore raced through on her inner. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. In his evidence, D.E. Mullins stated that his mount did not corner well on the bends but he did not expect any horse to go up his inner at that point of the race
He added the he received contact from both sides during this incident. E. Walsh stated that his mount received a bump from Katou on his inner which unbalanced his own mount. P. Townend stated that he was racing on the outside of the three horses but cornered well and did not receive any interference. Rachael Blackmore stated that Katou ran off this bend which left her with ample space to take the gap between the rails and Katou. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Raceday Stewards took no further action.
