See also » First-win-for-Artic-Lane we just couldn't shake off Jack (Kennedy, on runner-up Relieved Of Duties) up the straight and I wasn't sure if we had won. It was a big help with Willie's horse (C'est Ta Chance) coming out so we were hopeful as he had a lot of placed form. I knew Jack's horse would jump out and gallop so Declan (Queally) said to track him and it all panned out well. He looks like he will be nicer over further and going handicapping he could pick his races and will hopefully win a couple. Declan has been very very good to me and we're going well together. The Raceday Stewards interviewed L.A. McKenna, rider of Artic Lane, concerning his use of the whip in the closing stages of this race. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned. L.A. McKenna accepted he was in breach of the regulation and apologised for his actions. Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence the Raceday Stewards found L.A. McKenna in breach of R.10.3(g)(frequency) and in considering his record in this regard (first offence) they suspended him for two racedays
The Raceday Stewards enquired into an incident on the bend leaving the back straight involving My Lyka (GB), ridden by B. Hayes, unplaced, Plunkett Street (GB), ridden by D.E. Mullins, unplaced, Bold Passion, ridden by Sam Ewing, placed Fourth, and Gold Fever, ridden by D. Meyler, unplaced, where it appeared Bold Passion ran short of room. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. Sam Ewing stated that he ran short of room and had to check. B. Hayes stated that he had to take back as the horses in front of him tightened up and his mount shifted right onto the rail. D.E. Mullins stated that he was holding his line as they came back to the rail. D. Meyler stated that his mount rolled to his right at that point as the runners tightened up. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence the Raceday Stewards took no further action.
