HARPER VALLEY claimed this in good style with trainer Gordon Elliott describing it as a bit of work before he switches his attentions back to hurdles for a trip to Aintree. Chasing the leader throughout he moved up to challenge two furlongs out and was soon in the lead. He asserted from the furlong marker to stamp his authority on proceedings.
The son of Val Royal, who claimed the scalp of Franchoek at Cheltenham in December, must have good ground and Punchestown is an option if he does not get his preferred surface in England.
ADARE MANOR, a good winner here on his last start, ran well again without proving a match for the winner. He moved through to second a furlong-and-a-half out but couldn't make any inroads from over a furlong out and kept on at the same pace.
ROLYN ROCK had shown little over hurdles at Navan last time but ran better on his return to the level. He chased the leaders and kept on at the same pace in third from a furlong-and-a-half out.
Previous course winner NOT TO KNOW, held up out the back, worked his way into fourth over a furlong out but couldn't make any impression on the leaders. It was a decent return to action and he may improve for the run.
HEARTHSTEAD DREAM was another to come from behind, running on in the final furlong, while MAN OF ARAN soon weakened out of it when headed by the winner under two furlongs out.
