An enquiry was held to consider interference shortly after the start when The Red Witch (GB), placed third, ridden by Josephine Gordon interfered with the winner, The Retriever (IRE), ridden by Jack Garritty.
Gordon was cautioned for careless riding as she had allowed her mount to shift left-handed when insufficiently clear of The Retriever (IRE), carrying that gelding off its intended line.
The winner, THE RETREIVER (IRE), appeared to show an improvement in form, compared with its previous run at Southwell on 29 October 2020, where the gelding finished seventh of thirteen, beaten 9¾ lengths, over 1 mile.
The representative of Micky Hammond explained that the gelding had benefited from the drop in trip to 7 furlongs on this occasion.
