The winner Off To A Flyer (IRE) appeared to show an improvement in form, compared with its previous run at Sandown on 11 March 2023 on Heavy ground where the gelding was pulled up.
Joe Tizzard explained that the gelding may have appreciated the better ground on this occasion, officially described as Good to Soft, Good in places.
His explanation was noted and Off To A Flyer (IRE) was routine tested.
The performance of Lepashe (IRE) which finished unplaced, was considered.
Sam Allwood could offer no explanation for the gelding’s performance.
The Veterinary Officer reported that a post-race examination of the gelding failed to reveal any abnormalities.
Following the race, Brian Hughes reported that Shadows In The Sky (IRE), which was pulled up, hung left throughout.
