At the first hurdle Captain Nelson (IRE), which fell, jumped right and in doing so interfered with DON’T LOOK BACK which caused it to fall, but after viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved.
An enquiry was held following a complaint from the Senior Racecourse Medical Officer that Thomas Dowson, the rider of Donso Star (GB), who was unseated at the third last hurdle, had acted in an improper manner towards a Racecourse Paramedic.
Dowson, the Senior Racecourse Medical Officer and the Racecourse Paramedic were interviewed.
Having heard their evidence, Dowson was found guilty of improper conduct under rule J20 and suspended for 1 day.
The winner, Thistle Ask (IRE), appeared to show improved form compared with its previous run at Ayr on 1 February 2023, where the gelding finished seventh of nine on ground described as Soft, Good to Soft on the day.
James Ewart explained that the gelding was better suited by the return to a better surface, on ground described as Good, Good to Soft in Places on this occasion.
His explanation was noted and Thistle Ask (IRE), was routine tested.
Following the race, Jonathon Bewley reported that Lights Are Green (IRE), placed third, hung left- handed throughout.
