FormscanBy Gary Carson - SLUICE has been running well in some competitive events and wouldn't be winning out of turn here. The Starspangledbanner filly was placed twice to start her campaign before finishing a close fifth at the Curragh last time in a race that has worked out well. Cheekpieces are tried now and any rain should help. Indigo Five ended last year with a big run to finish second at the Curragh having won at the same venue previously. She is only 2lb higher on her return and commands respect. Drop The Dip is another filly who had a good year last year and will appreciate any rain.

She handles the ground. We didn't know going down to Listowel whether she would or not but handled it grand there so we figured we were alright ground-wise today. She's as solid as a rock. She's been in the first five all season long and you can set your watch by her. She was running good races all the time, only being beaten a length-and-a-half or two lengths so for her to get the few wins is great. It's great for her owner, great for me and for her. I got kind of greedy this morning and entered her in Navan next week but I don't know if she'll go or not. It was a bit of a disaster last week. I didn’t arrive till after the race at Killarney and when I got down to the stableyard I spotted the difference straightaway. . I’m delighted she won today for Ray. It’s a nice boost for everyone at the end of a bad week. She won well so we’ll see what the handicapper does. She’s in the sales but she might run again or they could hang onto her. . She’s keeps improving and did it the hard way there, drawn 18 and wide all the way.
