FormscanBy Michael Graham - GRAND CITY HALL closed inside the final furlong at Naas, but had no room to operate in and dropped to fourth. That effort can be marked up and it followed on from a close second in Fairyhouse. Katie McGivern holds a strong hand as she runs Kendall Roy and So Majestic. Kendall Roy has had a lucrative 2024 in winning three times and finishing runner-up twice. So Majestic has been placed in Listed class this season and can go well despite the burden of top-weight. Power Mode and Scorchio have the pace to land a blow in a competitive heat.
An extended handicap for three years old and upwards that at entry have run three or more times under any Rules of Racing, at least one of those runs having been on or after 1st June, 2023 (100 = 10st)Penalties - (after calculation of the handicap) A winner shall carry 7lb extra for each race won.

Quotes on So Majestic (IRE)
she had to win today to see what route we'd go down and I'm actually going off on my honeymoon for two weeks so she'll have a two-week break! . When I get back I'll line something up again - she'd go on firm ground but she'll go on softer as well, her preference though would be this ground. we always thought an awful lot of her and she was heavily back the first day (last March) but ran with the choke out and held her breath. Chris (Hayes) rides all her work at home and got on her the next day and she did the same so we were both very disappointed. We decided to drop her back to five (furlongs) to teach her how to breathe and how to run a race. She had been a breeze-up horse in my yard and obviously learned to only do two furlongs but the penny is after dropping and she's coming together. He (Leigh Roche, winning jockey) had no cover today and I thought we'd be in bother getting the five-and-a-half here but she didn't.After So Majestic (IRE) finished 1st at Naas on Wed, 28th Jun 2023 5f Flat Hcap Good

Quotes on Power Mode (USA)
I had four winners the first month I started, but then I had a disaster as the whole thing stopped. We got all these new horses which brought viruses from the sales, and this and that. I'm delighted for Gay and Annette (O'Callaghan, owners) as they had Capital Guarantee with me last year when I was based with (trainer) Kieran Cotter but when we sold him to England, he won three in a row. He was just ready, after castration, and came back and did well. Colin (Keane) carried this horse but he was tough too. I told him that we were really happy with him and I'm so happy to have this winner. Colin said we could pull him back to five (furlongs) and I agree with him. After Power Mode (USA) finished 1st at Naas on Wed, 26th Jun 2024 5f Flat Hcap Good

Quotes on Kendall Roy (GB)
They went some clip. He has loads of pace and when I saw Chris asking him to lie up I knew they were possibly going too fast,. It suited him as he wants a stiff five and to stay on, it worked out really well. It didn't in Cork as they went no gallop and it was a sprint home, they kind of left him for toe. I'm delighted because I thought he might win in Cork but it didn't play out. He did it again today. We want to go to Ascot in two weeks but he has to go up between 5 and 7lb to get in. If not we've plenty of other options. I have a couple of owners that want to go and he has the mentality to handle Ascot, the track suits and everything would be ideal for him but it depends on what the handicapper does now. After Kendall Roy (GB) finished 1st at Curragh on Wed, 5th Jun 2024 5f Flat Hcap Good

Quotes on Scorchio (IRE)
The whole family perform well on turf and she had been working well on turf so I couldn't see how she was so big in the market, but I was her friend anyway!. The family are better on turf and Thunderbear (Group 3-winning half-brother) doesn't go on the all-weather but Scorchio does. I'm really happy with her and being her first run of the year, is entitled to sharpen up.After Scorchio (IRE) finished 1st at Cork on Tue, 21st May 2024 5f Flat Hcap Good to Yielding

Quotes on Gabriella's Spirit (IRE)
Chris Hayes rode her in a four-way tight finish at the Curragh the last day and we decided to go for cheekpieces today. Billy said she enjoyed getting a bit of light and, as it worked out, was on the right side of the draw as she got a nice lead from Dun Na Sead who was quickly away. This is a lovely prize to win and these Premier Handicaps are hard won. It is nice for Con who bred her and it is a family he knows well. She has such a nice pedigree that there is nothing to be lost by looking for black-type and she could run in the Listed Abergwaun Stakes at Tipperary now. After Gabriella's Spirit (IRE) finished 1st at Cork on Fri, 28th Jul 2023 5f Flat Hcap Good

Quotes on Grand City Hall (IRE)
It was his first run back, he was fairly straight and had three runs last year so knows his job,. For a lad who has had a few runs he was a little green when he went to the front. . He is forward-going, six or seven (furlongs) is his trip and is a very easy going horse. Hopefully he can improve as the season goes along. We were glad the ground dried out as he needs top of the ground and his dam (Clonville) was the same. . He is bred by my wife Suzanne and is by a local stallion to us The Irish Rover in Sweep Lane Stud, who has a good strike-rate. He is a son of No Nay Never so was the cheap way of getting that bloodline. After Grand City Hall (IRE) finished 1st at Cork on Fri, 10th May 2024 6f Flat Maiden Good

Quotes on Harry's Hill (GB)
I can't believe it, three in a row! It's hard enough to get a horse to win one but now he's after winning three. He's just transformed and he's a legend. Maybe it's just that he's a year older and he's taking his racing a bit better. He blew a fuse one day with Seamie in the stalls at Navan so we try to get him in as late as we can. Whether that has transformed or maybe he's just taking his racing better. We're doing nothing different to last year. He's winning races now easily. We might give him another run in the Curragh, Scott said there is a big pot in him. Our horses are running well, Secret Magician was third in a big handicap at the Curragh last Saturday. Quotes on Bold Optimist (IRE)
that's my second winner and my previous win was also for this horse's owner Chris Mullins, who has been good to me and has also been lucky. After I gave Bold Optimist a break at the end of last year, he was showing loads of speed but at Naas (in May), he was on his head the whole way but still came home well to finish fifth. I ran him at the Curragh then but he 'gassed' it early and got knocked about. I knew with today's smaller field that at least he wouldn't get knocked down and he got to show himself. I entered him in the Rockingham at the Curragh (Derby weekend) in the hope he'd win today so we'll keep going and go with that race in mind. After Bold Optimist (IRE) finished 1st at Cork on Fri, 14th Jun 2024 5f Flat Hcap Good to Yielding

Quotes on Jered Maddox (GB)
Trainer error, I probably should have brought him here years ago! They either like it or they don't and he obviously likes it. He had a good run the other day, it was a lovely run in Cork and he was good for here then. He was guaranteed the run. He's (Daniel King) a very talented rider and his brother Connor had an awful lot of success for us, a great pair of hands, and this kid is equally as good. They should have a series of meetings here, I actually think there should be three or four over the summer. He'll probably go to Dundalk. After Jered Maddox (GB) finished 1st at Laytown on Tue, 12th Sep 2023 6f Flat Hcap Standard
