Permission was given for Wath Court (GB) to wear a red hood to post, for Beltane (IRE) to go early to post and to be mounted on the chute and for SHE’S GOT BOTTLE to go early to post wearing a red hood.
Just inside the final two furlongs, the winner, Makeen (GB), edged right-handed off the heels of Barley (IRE), placed fourth, giving a bump to Overnight Oats (GB), unplaced, moving the gelding off its intended line.
After viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved and it had not improved the placing of Makeen (GB).
Approaching the line, Zozimus (IRE), placed second, shifted quickly right-handed away from the whip, moving SHE’S GOT BOTTLE, placed third, momentarily off its intended line, causing its rider to take a precautionary check.
After viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved and it had not improved the placing of Zozimus (IRE).
The winner, Makeen (GB), appeared to show improved form compared with its previous run at Southwell on 9 April 2024 where the gelding finished twelfth of 14 runners, beaten 18 ¼ lengths.
Julie Camacho’s representative’s explanation that Makeen (GB) was suited by the return to turf from the all-weather and had benefitted from the first-time application of a visor, was noted.
Makeen (GB) was routine tested.
