Hopefully there will be another day in him. He missed a year, when he was off with a leg injury, but touch wood it all seems to be good now and we'll keep him going. Shane Nolan, trainer
R.P. Cleary, rider of Lamh Ar Lamh trained by J. S. Bolger, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount had to check going up the straight
The Stewards enquired into the running and riding of Sbraase (GB), ridden by D.W. O'Connor, and trained by J.F
Levins. Evidence was heard from the rider and trainer concerned. D.W. O'Connor, stated that he was instructed to break smart, get in amongst horses, to keep his mount interested and to run as best as possible. He added that from draw 14 he broke slowly and therefore had to ride at the rear of the field, maintaining this position to the turn in to the home straight, but inside the final furlong, having passed tired horses, his mount levelled out and found no more in the closing stages. In his opinion his mount was nongenuine. J.F. Levins confirmed the instructions given to the rider, but felt that his charge had little interest in racing and despite changing his training routine, running him over various trips from 6 furlongs to 1 and a half miles and applying headgear, he has been unable to ignite his enthusiasm. In his opinion had the horse run genuinely he would have been placed. Evidence was also heard from Gary O' Gorman, Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board Senior rules of racing handicapper. The Stewards also received a report from the Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board Veterinary Officer who stated that Sbrasse was stiff post race and also coughed while being examined. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards noted the explanations offered
