The Stewards interviewed W.M. Lordan, rider of Shemshal (FR), concerning his use of the whip in this race. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned. Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence the Stewards were of the opinion that the rider was in breach of Regulation 10(4), in that he used the whip without giving his mount time to respond and having considered his record, suspended him for one race day. C.P. Hoban, rider of Udogo (GB), trained by Paul Hickey, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount ran short of room for a number of strides in the straight. W.J. Lee, rider of Brave Man, trained by Michael Mulvany, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount hung badly right in running and was unable to ride out.
