The Stewards interviewed P.A. Harnett, rider of Tony The Gent, concerning the fact that he appeared to move across before reaching the marker poles. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered evidence from the rider, who stated that he had moved across early and had heard some shouting on his inside which made him straighten up briefly before moving across again, the Stewards were of the opinion that P. A. Harnett was in breach of Rule 211(a) by failing to ride in a straight line from his draw position until reaching the marker poles. Having considered P. A. Harnett's record in this regard the Stewards suspended P. A. Harnett for one raceday.
