Leaving the stalls, the winner Aristocratic Lady (IRE), jumped right-handed hampering the following horses: Camachess (IRE), placed fourth, Rasheeq (IRE), unplaced, and Colonel Frank (GB), unplaced, but after viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved and that it had not improved the placing of Aristocratic Lady (IRE).
An enquiry was held into the running and riding of Camachess (IRE), ridden by Shane Kelly and trained by Philip McBride, which was slow into stride and settled in the rear of the field before being asked for an effort inside the final furlong to stay on and finish fourth of ten, beaten by 6 ¼ lengths.
The rider and the trainer were interviewed and shown recordings of the race and the Veterinary Officer reported that a post- race examination of the filly failed to reveal any abnormalities.
The rider stated his instructions were to get cover on Camachess (IRE) as she ran keen on her last run on turf at Newmarket when wearing first time blinkers, with the aim of producing her with one run inside the final furlong.
He added that, in his opinion, the race was run at an overly strong pace which suited the filly as she appears to finish her races better when held up, allowing her to settle better.
He further added that at approximately two and a half furlongs out, he was unable to find a gap between Colonel Frank (GB) and Real Estate (IRE), which caused him to have to switch left-handed before asking for an effort inside the final furlong.
Kelly continued that Camachess (IRE) stayed on at one pace and would also recommend stepping the filly up in trip in the future.
The trainer stated that he was satisfied with the ride and that it accorded with the instructions given.
