The Stewards received a report from Mr. P.L. Malone, Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board Clerk of the Scales, regarding the fact that Mr C.J. Shine, rider of Top Question, presented himself to weigh out at 4lbs overweight

Evidence was heard from the rider concerned, who stated that he had expected to be able to do lighter but there was a discrepancy with his scales at home and he was now heavier than expected. Ms. C. Murphy, representing the trainer stated that Mr. Archdeacon, trainer, was satisfied for Mr. Shine to carry the overweight on his charge with the permission of the Stewards. Having considered the evidence, the Stewards granted permission for the rider to ride with the overweight but were satisfied that he was in breach of Rule 198(vii) and having taken his record into account fined him €150

Owing to low sun, the Stewards granted permission for Fence 5 (fifth last) to be omitted from this race

The Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board Veterinary Officer reported to the Stewards that Moscowsowhat trained by James Daniel Dullea was found to have been struck into on its right fore, lost a shoe and was lame post race.

An extended handicap steeplechase for five years old and upwards rated 0-116
Weights - Top weight in the original handicap and after the time of declaration shall not be less than 12st 4lbs and the minimum weight shall not be less than 10st 4lbs
Penalties - Winner of a steeplechase after calculation of the handicap shall carry 5lb extra for each steeplechase won.
Riders - Qualified Riders under I.N.H.S. Rules Note The Rules and instructions relating to the Overnight Nomination of Riders shall not apply in this instance. The top 8 horses declared in race card order will be allocated riders from the selected British based and Irish based Riders team by lot. Trainers of any remaining horses in this race should declare a rider of their choice. The draw for riders will take place at 10.30 a.m on Sunday 7th November with the toss of a coin to determine which team draws odds or even numbers. Individual riders will then be drawn by ballot. Points will be scored by the first eight placed horses on a scale of 15-12-10-8-7-6-5-4, if the horse is eligible to score points, and the team that accumulates the highest number of points will be deemed the winner. In the event of there being less than 8 horses declared or a non-runner the equivalent rider in the opposing team eg. Nos. 1 & 2, Nos 3 & 4 etc., will not be eligible to score points.
