He went down half a length inside the last furlong so to come back at him again shows great guts. He'll be a trip horse next year. We'll put him away now and let him grow up a bit, that was a bonus. He's still a little bit of a baby and we'll see how he progresses over the winter, hopefully he will progress well. We were always going to put him away and now that he's done that we'll take stock. The Stewards enquired into an incident at the final furlong pole involving Medal Of Honour (GB), ridden by D. O'Brien, placed fifth and Pienta (USA), ridden by C.P. Hoban, placed sixth, where it appeared that Pienta ran short of room. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were of the opinion that any interference was accidental in nature and took no further action. The Stewards interviewed C.T. Keane, rider of The Kid Bobby B (GB), concerning the fact that he appeared to move across before reaching the marker poles. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered evidence from the rider, the Stewards were of the opinion that C.T. Keane was in breach of rule 211 and having considered his record in this regard cautioned him regarding his future responsibilities. C. O'Donoghue, rider of Joust, trained by Mrs John Harrington, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount did not travel throughout. The Turf Club Veterinary Officer examined Joust, trained by Mrs John Harrington, at the request of the Stewards and reported the animal to be post race normal. M.Halford, trainer of Platinum Warrior, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his charge was lame post race. The Stewards fined David Marnane, trainer, ?350 for lodging a passport in respect of Magical Link (USA), in which the vaccinations did not conform with the provisions of Rule 91. The Stewards allowed the horse to run on receipt of the trainer's written assurance that the vaccinations were in order.
