Rounding the home bend, Gulshanigans (GB), which was later pulled up, stopped quickly, causing Kk Lexion (IRE), placed sixth, to be switched off heels, which in turn caused the rider of Arkyn (FR), placed eighth, to stop riding, resulting in Zarafshan (IRE), which was pulled up, clipping a heel, but after viewing a recording of the incident it was found that no riding offence was involved.
An enquiry was held to consider the placings in this race after interference after jumping the final hurdle when the winner, Spectator (GB), ridden by Charlie Price, interfered with Galileo Silver (IRE), placed second, ridden by Richard Johnson.
The Stewards considered that the interference had not improved Spectator (GB)’s placing as the gelding appeared to be in front at the time of the interference and always appeared to be holding Galileo Silver (IRE) on the run to the line, with the distance between the two runners at the line 2 lengths.
The interference was found to be accidental as Price had taken all reasonable steps to keep Spectator (GB) running straight.
Following the race, Miss Brodie Hampson reported that Mighty Leader (IRE), which was pulled up, was never travelling and Bryan Carver reported that Nifty At Fifty (IRE), placed third, hung badly left- handed.
The representative of Colin Tizzard reported that Quiz Master (IRE), which was pulled up, had a breathing problem.
