E.J. McNamara, rider of Clear Destination (GB), trained by Joseph Quinn, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount cocked his jaw and ran out when approaching the turn into the straight. The Stewards enquired into the fall of Sea Captain, ridden by C.R. King, soon after the start of this race and before the road crossing. The riders who rode in this race felt that Sea Captain stumbled and fell independently. C.R. King was unable to give evidence as he was under medical care following his fall. Having considered the reports and viewed a recording of the fall, the Stewards were of the opinion that the incident was accidental and no blame could be apportioned to any other rider.
