It was noted that Sean Quinlan, the rider of Ladronne (FR), placed second, appeared to strike the gelding behind the saddle with his hand after the final fence, having dropped his whip.
Quinlan was reminded of his responsibility under Rule (D)2 that he should not strike a horse in any way except for proper use of the whip whilst riding.
Following the race, Danny McMenamin reported that Half Track (IRE), which was pulled up, was never travelling and did not jump fluently; the Veterinary Officer reported that a post-race examination of the gelding failed to reveal any abnormalities.
