An enquiry was held to consider the placings in this race after interference approaching the final furlong marker involving the winner, New Kingdom (GB), ridden by William Buick and Dark Moon Rising (IRE), placed second, ridden by Shane Gray, which was beaten by a nose margin.
It was established that New Kingdom (GB) had shifted right-handed and briefly intimidated Dark Moon Rising (IRE) off its intended line at this point of the race.
After taking into account where the incident had occurred, alongside the minimal nature of the interference and the fact that Dark Moon Rising (IRE) appeared to suffer no discernible loss of ground or momentum as a result, nor did Gray ever have to stop riding his mount, the Stewards were unable to be satisfied that the interference had improved the placing of New Kingdom (GB) and ordered the placings to remain unaltered.
The incident was found to be accidental as New Kingdom (GB) had shied quickly right-handed away from some individuals situated inside the running rail.
Following the race, Kevin Stott reported that Thundering (GB), unplaced, ran green.
