More summer time joy for Cliffs
Wachman keeps home fires burning
Wolfe in the winning groove now
He's after getting a lot of confidence having gotten his head in front for the first time at Dundalk,. He loves that fast ground and it justifies Ger's decision not to sell him. He was in the London Sale but he knew he would be a nice horse for that type of ground.
Duke on the mark at Leopardstown again
She ran very well in Galway last year on fast ground and she was probably very weak,. I gave her a break over the winter but she never did a stroke. Jim (Bolger) told me 30 years ago that holidays were bad for you and she obviously took that on board. When we started riding her out again she improved every day. We'll never need a star to hang above her door but she'll win again and I'm happy with that. She loves Galway, and I love Galway, but before that she could very well make her way down to Gowran on Sunday. She was ready to go and win but will come on plenty from that also. She's a half-sister to Punch Bag and I could see her jumping a hurdle.
Lyons brace as Convergence wins Ballycorus
We always say we're delighted with that but we're definitely delighted with that!. This was always the plan with him. He was in the Jersey and Vincent said to us 'it's your call but I'd rather win at Leopardstown than finish fourth or fifth in the Jersey.'. I'm delighted for Vincent and Geraldine, they are dream owners and have been with us from day one. They always have three or four with us every year and take the bad news as easy as the good. They won this race before with An Tadh (in 2006). He has a massive heart and loves this ground. Colin said he could have gone even quicker. A mile will be no problem to him and there is plenty more to come. He ran really well on slow ground in the Guineas, considering he wants it lightening quick.
Whelan happy to win on gambled-on Abbey
No matching Katie and Star
He was entitled to win and it's nice to get his head in front,. He's very lazy and we wanted to get a win into him. He'll go back to the same sort of races now. He'll probably stay in training and is a horse that will improve. That'll do him the power of good and Katie was happy with him.
