An enquiry was held to consider the placings following an objection from Nick Scholfield, the rider of Wasdell Dundalk (FR), placed second, to the winner, Northern Bound (IRE), ridden by Luca Morgan, on the grounds of interference which occurred on the final bend, that in Scholfield’s opinion, had been caused by Northern Bound (IRE) carrying Guguss Collonges (FR), placed eighth, ridden by Joshua Moore, onto Wasdell Dundalk (FR).
The Stewards considered that the interference was accidental and had not improved Northern Bound (IRE)’s placing and had been caused by the quickly weakening Khan (GER), placed seventh, ridden by Mitchell Bastyan, rolling right-handed off the inside rail onto Wasdell Dundalk (FR), at the same time as Northern Bound (IRE) briefly edged left-handed, which resulted in Guguss Collonges (FR) becoming tight for room and stumbling and Scholfield having to take a slight check off the heels of Khan (GER).
Giving where the incident occurred in relation to the winning post and that Northern Bound (IRE) had not been the sole cause of the interference, together with the ½ length distance between Northern Bound (IRE) and Wasdell Dundalk (FR) at the line, the placings remained unaltered.
Following the race, the Veterinary Officer reported that The Raven's Return (GB), placed sixth, had a significant wound on its right hind.
