Easter Lily going the right way
She broke smart and travelled easy, and had her race won at the furlong marker and just had a little look then. She's a nice filly,.
Fior Cliste opens account at Leopardstown
I had concerns about the ground but took a chance and Kevin said he was fine on it. He can handle anything from that down, and can go a mile.
Time for more success at the age of nine
Every year I don't run him too much, and I only run him when he's really happy. His last run at the Curragh was fantastic, and after that he was jumping and kicking in the paddock so I decided to run again. He still has some ability, and he will tell me where to go next. He always has some little problem everywhere so I have to look after him. I'm very happy that he was won today.
Lightening comes home Fast for Keane/Lyons
A mile is his trip at the minute, very much like his mother. Just draw a line through Ascot for every one of mine. I started watching it on the couch and ended up under the couch watching it!. That’s a nice pot for a three-year-old. We debated whether we would run him or not as his work hasn’t been great. I thought Colin was exceptional on him, and it will be more of the same for the minute.
Weld & Smullen strike in big one with Tandem
He was very very well at home and you'd have been disappointed if he didn't put up a big show. Obviously it was a competitive race and he was up there with top weight or near enough to it but we were hopeful as he's a good consistent horse. As regards Galway I haven't thought about it. This time of year in years gone by you'd be pretty clued up as to what was going to happen. This time we're going in there just hoping to have runners and to do well. We'll take it as it comes. Without the stable being in top form I think that was still my 30th winner of the year. Obviously it's not where we want to be but we're not out of it (the jockey's championship) and I don't lie down that easily. It's hard to believe that it's four years since he won the same race. He's a model of consistency, and we'll probably have to go into Stakes level with him now. He got a magnificent ride from Pat, and he'd the race won a long way out. I'm delighted for the Bellamy Syndicate that own him and they have been great supporters of mine. The mile Premier Handicap at Galway is a possibility as the pace they go in that you want a horse that stays a bit further than a mile and a 100 yards. He will be entered in it but I'd see him running at Stakes level from now on.
Lil's bro Jan going jumping
He's a half-brother to the Stayers Hurdle runner-up, Lil Rockerfeller, so he will be stepping up in trip rather than back and will go hurdling for the winter. We were trying to persevere with bad handicaps in Dundalk. If a good one comes up we'll go for it but jumping is the plan after Galway. I'm delighted.
Duke headed for Plate in super form
I thought a mile and seven (furlongs) might be a bit short for him, and the only way to ride him is to bowl along. I think he got such a fright coming out of the stalls that it took a little while to get in front but she said he was super all the way. He loves that ground and bounces off it. It's the Galway Plate now and we'll see what happens. He won't mind if the ground is a bit slower. He's won ten races now. A Flat race, bumper, hurdles and chases. He's become a part of the furniture. I think Ronnie (Wood, owner) is going to come to Galway. I was talking to him there (by phone) and he's thrilled.
