Prior to this race, an enquiry was held with the representative of Ian Williams, the trainer of Swordbill (GB), into the reasons why he was running the gelding here at Wetherby on going officially described as Good, having been declared a non-runner at Warwick on 10 April 2019 on going also officially described as Good.
The trainer’s representative stated that having walked the course at Warwick, the trainer felt that the going at Warwick was quicker than the official description, and Swordbill (GB) would be better suited to Wetherby.
Following the race, Ross Chapman reported that Golden Wolf (IRE), unplaced, ran too freely and Sean Quinlan reported that Magellan (GB), placed fourth, ran too freely.
The Veterinary Officer reported that For Three (IRE), placed third, and Swordbill (GB), unplaced, lost their right fore shoes.
