Permission was given for Shoot To Kill (IRE) to wear a red hood to post.
Ben Curtis, the rider of Shoot To Kill (IRE), was unseated when leaving the stalls.
After viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no other horse or rider was involved and that the incident was accidental and caused by Shoot To Kill (IRE) jumping awkwardly upon leaving the stalls, before stumbling and unseating its rider.
The Stewards were satisfied that Shoot To Kill (IRE) was deemed a runner.
It was noted that inside the 4 furlong marker, the riderless Shoot To Kill (IRE) shifted left-handed, causing A Go Go (GB), placed fifth, to be severely checked and Dazzling Des (IRE), placed second, to be tightened for room against the rail.
It was further noted that approaching 2 furlongs out, Shoot To Kill (IRE) continued to shift left-handed across the running of the winner, Zulu Zander (IRE), causing that gelding's rider to take a check.
An enquiry was held to consider interference inside the final ½ furlong involving Bellevarde (IRE), placed sixth, ridden by Tyler Heard and Dazzling Des (IRE), placed second, ridden by Shane Gray.
Being a 7lb claimer, Heard was offered the opportunity to be accompanied in the enquiry, but declined.
Gray was suspended for 2 days for careless riding as he failed to correct his mount from hanging right- handed into the path of Bellevarde (IRE), causing Heard to take a check.
The winner, Zulu Zander (IRE), appeared to show improved form, compared with its previous run at Lingfield on 9 January 2021 where the gelding finished seventh of eight runners, beaten 8 lengths.
It was noted that the representative of David Evans could offer no explanation for the gelding’s improved form.
Zulu Zander (IRE) was routine tested.
Following the race, Darragh Keenan reported that A Go Go (GB), placed fifth, anticipated the start and was slowly away as a result, Callum Shepherd reported that Camachess (IRE), unplaced, was slowly away and Cam Hardie reported that Tathmeen (IRE), placed seventh, jumped awkwardly from the stalls and was slowly away as a result.
