Shane Gray, the rider of Bannockburn (IRE), placed fifth, had appeared to stop riding shortly before the winning post.
After being interviewed and shown recordings of the incident, Gray was suspended for 4 days for failing to take all reasonable and permissible measures to obtain the best possible placing on a horse that would have finished fourth.
Following the race, the Veterinary Officer reported that Strategic (IRE), placed seventh, had lost its right fore shoe.
