The Stewards interviewed M.F. Mooney, rider of King's War, concerning his use of the whip in the closing stages of this race. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned. Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were satisfied that M.F. Mooney was in breach of Regulations 10.3 (g) excessive frequency, 10.3 (h) arm above shoulder height and 10.3 (i) time to respond. Having considered his record in this regard, the Stewards suspended M.F. Mooney for 6 racedays and reminded him of his future responsibilities in this regard
The Stewards requested a report from Ross O'Sullivan, trainer as to the apparent improvement in form of Bythesametoken, placed first, as compared with its recent form. Ross O'Sullivan reported that the application of a tongue tie since his last run and a change of tactics today assisted his charge and brought about an improvement in form. Having considered the evidence the Stewards noted the explanation offered.
