The Stewards ordered the withdrawal of Golden Drumlee, trained by S. McParlan, for failing to lodge the passport in accordance with the provisions of Rule 90 (i)
The Stewards enquired into the running and riding of On Call, ridden by R.L. O'Brien, and trained by Joseph Patrick O'Brien. Evidence was heard from the rider and authorised representative concerned. R.L. O'Brien stated that this was his first ride in Ireland and that his instructions were to jump off in mid division and to get his mount jumping well. He was advised that the ground might be a bit quick for his mount and to keep him balanced and get his best possible placing. R.L. O'Brien was satisfied with his finishing place, he felt his horse weaken coming up to the second last hurdle, however he quickened coming to the last and passed tired horses to finish third. Mr. Paddy Doody, authorised representative of Joseph Patrick O'Brien, confirmed the instructions given to R.L. O'Brien and stated that he was satisfied with the ride adding that his charge did not jump well on his last run. He did state, however that R.L. O'Brien could have ridden stronger coming up to the last hurdle. The Stewards also received a report from the Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board Veterinary Officer who stated that On Call was post race normal and that samples were taken for analysis. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards noted the explanations offered and advised R.L. O' Brien to appraise himself fully of the contents of and consequences for breaching Rule 212A
R.L. O'Brien, rider of On Call trained by Joseph Patrick O'Brien, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount found the ground too quick early on and ran on well at the finish
R. K. Watson, trainer of Willwams, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his charge was examined by a veterinary officer post race and was found to have been clinically abnormal.
