The Stewards received a report from Ms Colleen Murphy , Turf Club Clerk of the Scales, regarding the fact that R.A. Doyle , rider of Pat's Pearl , weighed in at 1.04 lbs overweight. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned, who stated that he had taken a drink of diet coke on arrival at the race track. Having considered the evidence, the Stewards were satisfied that R.A. Doyle was in breach of Rule 231 and they therefore suspended him for one raceday. The Turf Club Veterinary Officer examined Blixt, trained by W.P. Mullins, at the request of the Stewards and reported the animal to be post race normal.
