Permission was given for Helfire (GB) to go early and be led straight to post, and for Met By Moonlight (GB) to go straight to post.
An enquiry was held to consider interference inside the final furlong involving Sarasota (IRE), placed seventh, ridden by James Doyle, Gloweth (GB), placed eighth, ridden by Liam Keniry, Helfire (GB), placed sixth, ridden by Charlie Bennett, and Sonnet Rose (IRE), placed fifth, ridden by William Carver.
Being a 7lb claiming apprentice, Carver was offered the opportunity to be accompanied in the enquiry but declined.
It was found that initially Sarasota (IRE) had lugged quickly left-handed away from the whip before being corrected by the rider, taking Gloweth (GB) off its intended line, and it was considered that this interference was accidental.
At the same time Sonnet Rose (IRE) drifted right-handed taking Helfire (GB) off its intended line and having to be checked by the rider, and also causing the rider of Gloweth (GB) to have to take a check in behind runners.
Carver was suspended for 2 days for careless riding as he had allowed his mount to drift right-handed without correction.
Following the race, Nicola Currie reported that First Link (USA), placed fourth, had no more to give, and Charlie Bennett reported that Helfire (GB), placed sixth, was denied a clear run inside the final furlong.
Andrea Atzeni reported that More Than More (USA), unplaced, stopped quickly; the Veterinary Officer reported that a post-race examination of the filly failed to reveal any abnormalities.
