The Stewards enquired into an incident in the latter stages of this race involving Fit For Function (GB), ridden by G.F. Carroll, unplaced, Invincible Ryker, ridden by C. O'Donoghue, placed sixth, Hasselnott (GB), ridden by C.T. Keane, placed fourth, Ecoeye (GB), ridden by G.P. Halpin, unplaced and Fair Game, ridden by C.D. Hayes, unplaced, where it appeared that Fair Game was tight for room. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were of the opinion that the incident was accidental in nature and therefore took no further action. C.D. Hayes, rider of Fair Game trained by E. J. O'Grady, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount was squeezed for room about one furlong from the finish. The Stewards interviewed W.J. Lee, rider of Honor Oak, concerning his use of the whip in the latter stages of this race. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned. Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence the Stewards were of the opinion that W.J. Lee was in breach of R10(4) by failing to give his mount time to respond to the whip and therefore cautioned him having taken his previous record into consideration.
