An enquiry was held to consider why Nicky Henderson was running Colonial Dreams (IRE) here at Sandown on going described as Good, Good to Firm in places, having declared the gelding a non-runner at Ayr on 13 April 2019 on ground with the same official description.
The trainer stated that, in his opinion, the ground at Ayr was firmer than described, so he was happy for Colonial Dreams (IRE) to take his chance today.
Following the race, the Veterinary Officer reported that Irish Prophecy (IRE), which was pulled up, had lost both front shoes.
Tom Cannon reported that Commanche Red (IRE), which was pulled up, lost action; the Veterinary Officer reported that a post-race examination of the gelding failed to reveal any abnormalities.
Harry Skelton reported that Wynford (IRE), unplaced, was never travelling.
