The Stewards interviewed A. Mackay, rider of Marlborough Sounds (GB), concerning his use of the whip in the closing stages of this race. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned. Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence the Stewards found A. Mackay in breach of Regulation 10. 3 (g) and suspended him for two racedays. Chairman of the stewards Mr. John Moloney did not attend this enquiry and Mr. Philip McLernon acted as Chairman
The Stewards wished to interview G.M. Ryan, rider of Danehill Quest, concerning his use of the whip in the closing stages of this race. G. M. Ryan confirmed to the stewards that he had three previous breaches of Regulation 10 since the new whip rules came into effect. Having considered the riders acceptance of his disciplinary record in relation to Regulation 10 the Stewards referred the matter to the Referals Committee for consideration under the provisions of Regulatioin 10.6.
