The Raceday Stewards interviewed D.P. Maxwell, rider of Rowdy Romeo, concerning his use of the whip in closing stages of this race. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned. D.P. Maxwell accepted he was in breach of the regulation and apologised for his actions. Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence the Raceday Stewards found D.P. Maxwell was in breach of R.10.3(g)(frequency) and R.10.3(i)(time to respond) and in considering his record in this regard they suspended him for ten racedays
The Raceday Stewards requested a report from Eddie & Patrick Harty, trainer, as to the apparent improvement in form of Harvard Guy (GB), placed first, as compared with its recent form. Eddie Harty,trainer, stated that he was unable to explain the poor run last time and in giving the horse a break as a result, felt this may have contributed to the improved performance today. Having considered the report the Raceday Stewards noted its content.
An extended handicap hurdle for four years old and upwards rated 80-116 Penalties - Winner of a hurdle race after calculation of the handicap shall carry 7lb extra for each hurdle race won.
