The Turf Club Veterinary Officer examined Annadiamond, trained by Garrett James Power, at the request of the Stewards and reported the animal to be post race normal. The Stewards interviewed J.L. Joyce, rider of Pleasing Sunset, concerning his use of the whip in the closing stages of this race. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned. Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence the Stewards were of the opinion that the rider was in breach of Regulation 10.3.(g), in that he had used his whip with the arm above shoulder height and having considered his record, they suspended him for one race day. The Stewards received a report from the Clerk of the Scales, Mr. W. Fleming, regarding the failure of C.P. Hoban, rider of Breenainthemycra, placed fifth to weigh in after this race. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned. Having considered the evidence, the Stewards were of the opinion that the rider was in breach of Rule 227 and having considered his record, they severely cautioned him. Furthermore, the Stewards disqualified Breenainthemycra from fifth place. .
An extended handicap for four yrs old and upwards (70 = 10st) Penalties - (after calculation of the handicap) A winner shall carry 5lb extra; for each race won. Any horse rated above 70 shall initially be treated as having that rating and the highest weight allotted shall be 10st. Subsequently, the excess over 70 in any rating shall be added to the weight allotted to that horse. (For the purpose of this note, any four year old rated above 70 shall have the applicable weight for age allowance then prevailing deducted from the horse's rating prior to the original calculation of the handicap)
