The winner, Wiff Waff (GB), appeared to show improved form compared with its previous run at Chepstow on 19 August 2021 where the gelding finished tenth of fifteen, beaten by 6½ lengths.
Adrian Wintle’s representative’s explanation that the race at Chepstow may have come too soon for Wiff Waff (GB) with the gelding having run five days previously and Wiff Waff (GB) had appreciated the return to Bath where the gelding has won in the past, was noted.
Approaching the 4 furlong marker, a very free-running Alba Del Sole (IRE), unplaced, edged momentarily left-handed despite the riders’ best efforts to correct the mare, causing Redredrobin (GB), placed seventh, to be tightened for room on the inside rail, but after viewing a recording of the incident it was found that no riding offence was involved.
Following the race, Gina Mangan reported that Pastfact (GB), which started joint-favourite and finished unplaced, missed the break and Franny Norton reported that Redredrobin (GB), placed seventh, was hampered 4 furlongs out and his saddle slipped.
The Veterinary Officer reported that Glamorous Force (GB), which started joint-favourite and finished fifth, lost its left-hind shoe.
