Valour eases to victory in Roscommon opener
He's a lovely big horse and I thought a lot of him last year. He got hurt last year and it was probably a blessing in disguise. We got one run into him at the end of the year. He looks after himself. He's a genuine horse but is just a big baby. He had blinkers on the last day in Navan and we weaned him off them a bit with smaller blinkers today. We'll eventually take them off him completely as he's very genuine. He has a couple of nice entries over the summer but he will have to come forward again. Pat is mad about him. It was the perfect trip and he loved the ground. He's quite versatile as I think he wouldn't mind getting his toe in a bit.
Chilli follows-up on recent Limerick win
Zamira another for McCreery & Lee
John (Malone) bought her at the sales last November (for €20,000) and sent her to me. She's as game as a pebble and Billy said he didn't go fast enough on her in Navan. It's great to get a win for a well-bred filly like that. She was covered recently by Exceed And Excel so hopefully she is in foal and that would be a great double up for the owners.
Bottle lands a gamble under Hayes
We weren't going to run him. He's entered again at Dundalk on Friday night and I was afraid he wouldn't get in. There is nothing really for him for about another month after that. We changed tactics a small bit. He was in front very early, and I was surprised how genuine he was. He could run again on Friday.
Market gets it right as Showtime prevails
He was a totally different horse on that ground and travelled like a dream. He'll go on for the summer now. He’s from the same family as Denman and will run over two and a half miles plus. He was a bit unlucky not to win one day at Tramore. He'll go jumping now.
Rose edges thrilling finish to the sixth
Anna proves too good for Rock
Park a welcome winner for Kelly
The better ground helped and the blinkers worked. Sean was brilliant on him, and he’ll keep going over fences for the summer.
