The winner, Broughtons Flare (IRE), appeared to show improved form compared with its previous run at Chelmsford on 16 September 2021, where the gelding finished tenth of fourteen, beaten by 16¼ lengths.
It was noted that Mark Loughnane could offer no explanation for the gelding's improved form; Broughtons Flare (IRE) was routine tested.
Rounding the home bend Carmela Soprano (GB), placed third, lugged slightly left-handed moving Itsallaboutluck (IRE), placed second, onto Ruby Lily (GB), placed sixth, causing that filly to be checked in her run.
After viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved and it had not improved the placing of any horse.
Following the race, Elisha Whittington reported that Ruby Lily (GB), placed sixth, ran too freely in the early stages, William Carson reported that Sparkling Diamond (GB), unplaced, was denied a clear run approximately two furlongs out, and Jamie Gormley reported that MAC MACCARTHY (IRE), placed seventh, was very slowly away.
Cam Hardie reported that Bellevue Lad (GB), unplaced, hung badly right- handed throughout and the Veterinary Officer reported that a post-race examination of the gelding, failed to reveal any visible abnormalities; the representative of David Thompson further reported that Bellevue Lad (GB) was unsuited by the surface, this being its first run on Tapeta.
