An enquiry was held to consider the placings in this race after interference inside the final furlong, involving the winner, Judgementofsolomon (GB), ridden by Luke Morris and Cock And Bull (IRE), placed second, ridden by Hector Crouch.
The Stewards considered that the interference had not improved Judgementofsolomon (GB)’s placing as shortly after turning in Cock And Bull (IRE) had shifted right- handed away from the whip, rather than via intimidation from Judgementofsolomon (GB).
The two horses then maintained their separate courses until ½ furlong out where Judgementofsolomon (GB) intimidated Cock And Bull (IRE) off its intended line.
The effect of the intimidation was though minimal, with no contact between the two runners and with Cock And Bull (IRE) appearing to lose no momentum.
Further to this, on the run to the line Judgementofsolomon (GB) appeared to have the measure of Cock And Bull (IRE), holding that horse to win by a short head.
Morris was cautioned for careless riding as he allowed his mount to drift right-handed without sufficient correction, carrying Cock And Bull (IRE) off its intended line.
